From the Farsi word for cypress, it is also a feminine given name. It is the name of one the oldest trees in the world, known as the Zoroastrian Sarv or the Sarv-e-Abarqu, it is considered a national symbol of Iran. It is estimated to be four thousand years old. Other similar names are Sarvazad which means “noble cypress” and Tokhmesarv meaning “tall like a cypress.”
