Derived from the Sanskrit ग्रीष्म (grīṣma), meaning “summer” or “the hot season,” Grishma is the name of one of the six traditional seasons (ṛitu) of the Hindu calendar. Each ṛitu encompasses two months, with Grishma Ritu corresponding to the months of Jyeshtha and Ashadha, approximately May through July in the Gregorian calendar. It follows Vasanta (“spring”) and precedes Varsha (“rainy season” or “monsoon”).

It is a feminine given name in Hindu communities throughout the world, mainly used in India and Nepal.
