This obscure Italian masculine form of Lilia has suddenly made an appearance in the French Top 500.

A notable bearer is the 16th-century Italian astronomist, Aloysius Lilius (1510-1576). Lilius, known as Lilio in his native Italy was most notable for authoring the gregorian calendar. A crater on the moon, known as Lilius was named in his honour as is the asteroid 2346 Lilio.

Currently, Lilio is the 486th Most Popular Male name in France (2018).

Another form is the Latin, Lilius.
